Musicality 2011 – Episode 1

Welcome back to Musicality for 2011. This first episode was supposed to be a catch up of some of the music released during the Australian summer mixed with some older releases I’ve stumbled over in markets and bargain bins on my holiday.

But as the months grew warmer news progressively reached the world of the deaths of some fine musicians: Mick Karn of Japan, Coil and Throbbing Gristle’s Peter Christopherson (pictured), The Slit’s Ari Up, Broadcast’s Trish Keenan and the great Captain Beefheart. Any of these artists could have had a program dedicated to their memories, but instead of full biographies, I’ve picked a track from each in the hope listeners might explore their music. After the playlist are a few links to help you find out more about these musicians.
